Be Disciples, Make Disciples

“Open the gates that the righteous nation may enter, the nation that keeps faith.” Isaiah 26:2 NIV

“He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.” Matthew 8:26 NIV

“Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”;” Matthew 9:29 NIV

“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” Mark 9:23 KJV

I am sure all of us have wondered many times in our life, “What am I here for? What is my purpose in life? What does God want me to do?” I've thought the very same things. As I get older and really grow my relationship with God I still ask some of these same questions. Being human, we usually second guess ourselves about almost everything. I don't always know or feel like I know exactly what God wants me to do at times. But in prayer this morning He revealed this to me:

"Be Ready and help others to be ready!"

Our purpose is simple in the eyes of God, but yet seems complicated to us because we always have to analyze or add to the simplicity of

God’s plan. I know there are those that do have a specialized calling from God, like certain ministries such as prison, ladies, children, evangelist, preacher, or pastoral ministries. However, we can all technically fill those roles during our daily lives just by putting ourselves out there and getting to know people in our world. Just sharing our testimony, listening to their fears and questions, helping people answer those questions and by simply living a godly life so they can see Christ in us through our actions, our words, our responses, our faith, our love toward others.

We were all, every last one of us, created by God to not only live for Him ourselves and make it to Heaven to be with him in eternity, but to reach others so they can make it to heaven for eternity.

I am sure you will agree if every person on this earth could take a tour of hell, or even a peak into the darkness of hell, they would think twice about not living for God. I say that because our society has to “see it to believe it” and even then only half of what we see is considered true.

So if we can't take a peak into the dark, hot, horrible pit of hell then we have no choice but to have faith to believe God is real, heaven is real and yes, hell is real. But where does that faith come from? How do you attain it?

You pray about it, you attend church and hear the Word speak to you and apply it to your life, you seek your answers from the Bible and your faith will begin to grow.

That leaves me with this thought God placed on my heart on the drive to work today. How much preparation do I put into my job, every audit, every corporate visit, every meeting? Hours and hours and sometimes days and weeks, even months, depending on the situation. How much preparation do I put into a family get together? Hours and sometimes days, weeks, and if it’s a Holiday it could be more than that. How much preparation do I put into teaching, coaching and helping my kids understand their school work, their relationship issues, their fears, their ambitions and such? A lifetime.

So why should we give any less to God if we truly believe there is a heaven and a hell? I think the majority of the population believes there is an afterlife somewhere, but don’t really understand that they will live an eternity in one of those two places. If they really believed it our society would be acting much different right now. We would see people rushing to a church, falling on their faces, praying, weeping,

seeking God. It makes me sad to think about how many people I meet in one day that don’t have a relationship with God. I must do my part. I have to let them see that there is a God that wants to have an everlasting relationship with them.

We can let that thought motivate and pump us up today! I wanted to share this with anyone that would listen because we only have one life here on this earth. What we do here will determine where we spend our eternity. Are you ready? Can you help others be ready? God gave us the tools. We need to pick them up and use them today.

Be blessed and be a blessing to someone today!

“The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits. Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil. When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” Proverbs 16:1-9 KJV
